The Wesley Hospital provides pre-employment screening, vaccine advice and administration of vaccines for all staff. This service also provides for screening and management of work related allergies. The staff clinic manages staff care should needle stick injuries, exposure to blood or body fluids, or need to check immune status occurs.
 Smoke free environment
The Wesley Hospital Campus is a smoke free environment with exception of a few 'smoking permitted' areas. The Wesley also supports the QUIT program. Employees can visit the Healthwise Centre or the Wesley Pharmacy for advice on how to quit smoking.
Rostering The Wesley Hospital offers flexible rosters in an increasing number of areas. Self-rostering is also encouraged. The Wesley Hospital provides 24-hour security to all employees. This includes secure car parking, escorts within and nearby the hospital, and prompt assistance if required in the work area. Nursing staff also receive free parking in the multi-storey carpark when working night shift.
TransportThe Wesley is well serviced by various bus stops, the Auchenflower train station and the Regatta Citycat stop. You may also access a free phone at the front entrance if you need to order a taxi. For those who wish to ride to work, you can park your bike at no charge in secure undercover bike racks.
 Pleasant working environment
The Wesley Hospital provides staff with an attractive and positive working environment featuring the second largest art display in Queensland, attractive decor, colour scheme, furniture, plants, aquariums and gardens. The hospital is serviced by several cafe including SJ's Cafe, The Gown & Glove Restaurant, The Rose Café and The Auxiliary Coffee Shop. There are a number of vending machines throughout the Hospital. The Gown & Glove Restaurant also includes an exclusive 24-hour staff dining area with indoor and outdoor seating, microwave ovens, and free tea and coffee facilities.
 All staff are welcome to attend the cardiac rehabilitation gym which is conveniently located in the Rotary Lodge on Chasley Street. The gym is fully equipped with cardio machines, free weights, fit balls and resistance training equipment. You can also make an appointment with one of the exercise physiologist to tailor and monitor an exercise program for you. Currently, the gym and programs are free to staff. Lockers and shower facilitiesStaff showers are located throughout the hospital. These private rooms are solely for staff use and contain towels, mirrors and electrical points. Shower rooms also have lockers that you can use by contacting the nursing coordinators.
Free counselling offers sensitive and confidential support to all staff during times of personal or work related distress, emotional crisis, loss or bereavement.Nurse Counsellors are also Wesley Hospital Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Contact Officers.
Spiritual care and counselling for all staff, patients and visitors is available through the Pastoral Care Department. Chaplains assist with faith issues, personal prayer, delivery of sacraments, as well as help with personal funeral, wedding or baptism arrangements. Staff may visit the Chapel and attend services.

The Healthwise Centre is available to all Wesley staff. Healthwise provides service such as a library with lending services, Internet access to medical web sites, courses and public health seminars. Our staff will also bring information to you in the hospital on request.
 Nutrition Services
You are welcome to contact our nutrition consultants for advice on diet, gastrointestinal queries and weight management. No referral is needed for this service and you can claim the expense if you have extras cover as part of your health insurance.

The Professional Development Unit provides education for all staff and aims to build capability and minimise risk. You can access education in the form of short courses, mandatory inservice, orientation and self-directed learning packages. Some courses gain credit with tertiary institutions towards post-graduate qualifications. You can also apply for funding for work-related education and a number of bursaries are available each year. The centre is adjacent to our fully services library, which provides access to on-line journals via the Internet.
